Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 9: Bugging Woody

Day 9 (same day as 8): Saturday, April 24th 2010

Generic title is generic. Ninth episode is the ninth. Crappy sentences are crappy. OK, I'll stop, OK... or... what?

Whatever. Last time, we caught a Ditto, as well as two new team members: Ned (male Nidoran) and Barbara (female Nidoran), who will soon have little Nidoranese babies... or something. Then, I entered the Bug Catching Contest. Time to continue that.

I was lucky I did this on Saturday (episode 10 will be on a Saturday so I can catch more stuff here), so the BCC was in action. I had 20 minutes, but I was on a mission. A mission to find and catch one Pokemon in particular: Venonat. Guess what? I found it within a minute and catch it within 3 Sport Balls. It's a Level 14, and I... couldn't name it Luna like Bikdip did, so to make a reference to someone he talks about, I named it Harrison, who has a Rash nature, "often dozes off" (I hope that won't present a problem), and had Foresight, Supersonic, Confusion, and PoisonPowder.

I fight a random trainer on Route 35, then try to find out how to get rid of the Pokemon-like moving tree on Route 36. I thought they were gonna make me catch a Water type and learn Water Gun. But, nope. After some backtracking to Goldenrod City, I went into the Flower Shop, and the gal there gives me the Squirtbottle (which is totally one word). Kinda makes me think I should've explored this place a little more thoroughly before.

I go back to Route 36, spray it with the bottle, and as I expected, it's... a Sudowoodo! Level 20, that is. After a good six-minute tackle/ember back-and-forth, I catch it and name it Woody. And I also get Berry Pots from the kid near the Sudowoodo, as well as about sixty-five berries. I don't know what I'll use those for, but eh. The kid tells me to go North to... some place I forget the name of. So I do, and go into the forest... place. I'm running out of Pokeballs, so if I have any random encounters, I'll have to ignore it. At the beginning of the next episode, I'll have to remember to go back and buy a few.

I go onto Route 37, but don't feel like fighting any more trainers, so I go to the blocked-off-I-think place and get the Rock Smash HM, which I teach to Dwayne. The kid who gave it to me said it'd be useful in Violet City. I look around and find one rock to smash and it leads to... nothing. Thanks, fat kid.

I find the blue, yellow, and red shards in the Ruins of Alph, and smash like three rocks. It says to explore, but I... can't go anywhere. I dunno. Until I have some more clues, that place can just go screw itself. I go back to heal, back to Route 37, then save the game, and decide to end the episode there because Ruins of Alph is confusing the poop out of me.

That's it for Episode 9! Ep. 10 will hopefully be up on Saturday! We'll be catching some more stuff for the Pokedex and fighting some trainers on Route 37, as well as getting a few extra Pokeballs.

Game Time so far: 9 hours, 18 minutes

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 8: Now That's What I Like to Call Progress!

Day 8 (and 9) - Saturday, April 24th 2010

As you may or perhaps not know, originally, I planned for there to be four episodes of this in one day. But, on the same day that I played these, I confirmed a YouTube account, which I've been waiting to have for awhile now. The four episodes were supposed to be a celebration for reaching 2,000 tweets on Twitter, but I think, at least for me, the YouTube thing is enough of a "celebration". (I will definitely post some stuff about that when it's up and running) So, you only get two. Sorry.

Anyways, welcome back to HeartGold! I went on Bulbapedia a couple days ago and found potential team members for the future, all of which are common in the areas they can be found:
Mankey (Route 9 and 42)
Pikachu (Route 2 and Viridian Forest)
Diglett (Diglett Cave and Route 48)
I think I may have already passed Route 42 (I think I saw it when I was doing my enormous trek back to Professor Elm), but I'm not backtracking that far right now. I'm gonna find a Flying slave (Howl-Owl will probably be the candidate for that) so I can fly around and get places faster.

So, yeah. After about two and a half weeks of blowing this game off, it was time to finally kick it back into gear. I got 3 potions from the Pokewalker during the break, and they were immediately sent to my inventory. So, in this episode, we'll just be continuing on Route 35.

The last trainers I fought were a boyfriend/girlfriend couple, and I think I dodged a fire...man... thing. Flameburners, I think they're called? Something like that? I dunno. Anyways, I run into him, and HOLY CRAP HE HAS A MAGMAR.
....Why? Why does he have a Magmar? Well, it goes down within one Rock Throw from Dwayne, then... oh my God. He has two? Why does he have two? More importantly, why are they, like Level 20? (I guess I'm used to seeing like Level 78 Pokemon because of BikdipOnABus's LP of a FireRed hack, which he's very far into - 83 episodes, to be exact). Whatever. The second one goes down with 2 Rock Throws, and the flame...guy is defeated-ed.

I fight another trainer that isn't worth noting, then decide to twitch around in the grass a bit and find... a male Nidoran? Uh... okay, I'll take it. Anything to get Toga off my team. It's a Level 12, and as always I use Tackle instead of my usual Flame Wheel tactics so it doesn't go down too easily, and I catch it! I name it Ned (I was gonna name it, like... Sandwich or something, but, meh), and it's added to my team, then find a Paralyze Heal.

After that, I catch a Level 10 Ditto. Holy crap. Why am I catching so much stuff? Whatever. I name it Splat, and it's transferred to the PC automatically (first time for the run). After that, I... CATCH A FEMALE NIDORAN? Seriously, is the game taking pity on me now? Whatever, I name it Barbara (pronounced bar-bar-uh, not bar-bra), go to a Pokemon Center to heal, then put Toga in the PC. So, now my team consists of Bernard, Dwayne, Sprout, Dwayne, Ned, and Barbara. I look at Ned's thingies and see he is "capable of taking hits" with a Gentle nature. Doesn't make sense to me. I guess it's possible to be sturdy and non-violent in RPGs, but it's a rare occurance.

I decide to take a break from fighting and go over to the Pokeathlon Dome. I'm over not finding a Poliwag (I mean, I found everything else), so I don't hate the guy who runs it anymore. I go in there, and... Whitney, what the fudge are you doing here? I thought I made you cry. Oh, God, don't make me fight that freaking Miltank again. Okay, good. So, I change into... what looks like your normal wardrobe in Sapphire, then go into the Speed test with my three fastest Pokemon: Bernard, Dwayne, and newly-acquired Ned.

I didn't bother seeing what Pokemon the other contestants had, but one of them had... a freaking TEDDIURSA. THEY... MUST... DIE! I didn't like them at all, but here's the results:
Challenge 1: 1st place
Challenge 2: Last place
Finals: 3rd place
I got last place overall, and the lady outside said good job and to come again. Uh, yeah, FAT CHANCE OF THAT.

I decide to go to the National Park, and find nothing of interest, then go on to the only place so far I haven't visited: Route 36. There's a "weird tree" there, and a random guy who says if I spray water on it, it'll move, and it just has to be a Pokemon. It is, I know, but I don't know how to get it... oh, well. I unintentionally run into a trainer who has a Tangela... who is unTANGIble (that wasn't funny). It takes forever to kill, but after, I kid you not, 25 minutes, Sprout learns Wrap... and no one levels up.

I fight three trainers in the National Park who have: Voltorb, Oddish, Oddish again, Cubone, and Raichu. Basically everything I don't have that would be cool to have (especially Raichu *points at potential members list*). After healing, I go into the little "in-between building" thingies and talk to the guy and prepare to enter...

...the Bug Catching Contest.

What, were you looking for something amazing? Too bad.

I don't have a game time for this, since I just did this as one straight episode with no saving. But, that's the episode of Episode 8! See you next time for the Bug catching Contest and more Route 36 wonderment.

Thanks for reading!

Pokemon LP News

Sorry for anybody who looks forward to my Pokemon HeartGold LP entries, if there are any. If you haven't seen my Twitter, there's just been stuff happening, and I did plan to put two up today, but I think I'll go for 4 tomorrow.

So, again, sorry if you were looking forward to Episode 8. Episodes 8 - 11 will hopefully up tomorrow to make up for the hiatus.

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 7: It's A Fight of Wit Against Whit...ney

Day 7 - Thursday, April 8th 2010

That's right! You get two episodes today! Last time, we entered Goldenrod City, and prepared for Whitney's gym, and guess what? DIDN'T FIND A POLIWAG.

So, I entered Whitney's gym, which looks so threatening with its pinkness and its cuteness. It kind of reminded me of Cutopia from MySims Kingdom. The first trainer has two Meowths (again, showing SS exclusives... EVIL), and goes down easily. The second trainer has 3 Senterts, two of which go down easily to Vine Whip from Sprout. I go back to heal, and Trainer #3 had Snubbull. Go figure the only trainer with one Pokemon is the hardest one yet.

It wipes out three of my four team members (okay, actually four out of five, but I don't consider Toga a team member). I go back to heal and get more bewwyz from Mom, and the last trainer has 3 Jigglypuffs, who go down easily. I heal again, then prepare to battle Whitney.

She only has two Pokemon, and her first out is Clefairy. It's kinda uncooperative, but it's okay. After I defeat it, she turns into Miley Cyrus, saying "Wow, you're strong... but I ain't losin', ya herr?".

She busts out Miltank, who... completely wipes out the entire team. Even with using Togepi as death fodder and 6 potions, I still lost. Thus marks the second loss of the game. I heal, and go back to try again.

Once again, Clefairy goes down in one Flame Wheel, but it's this Miltank that's a complete biatch to kill. Flame Wheel is the strongest move against it, and even then it only does, like, 9 HP. After everyone but Bernard is killed (Bernard is left with 2 freaking HP), I get in one last ditch effort with Tackle, and just barely manage to kill it. Thank Jesus.

And... what? NO BADGE!? She just goes, "Whaaa! Whaa! Snivel, hic. You meanie."

What's a snivel hic? Is it a Gen V Pokemon? I dunno. Some kid that I... don't know says, "Oh, no, you made Whitney cry. It's okay. She'll stop." Then she gives me the Plain Badge. Sure as fudge wasn't a plain battle. I'd like to kick that Miltank in its non-existent balls.

She also gives me Attract. Well, about freakin' time I get a good move for Sprout. Sprout needs a good move, and now it has 4... moves. And, I get a Repel from Mom. Only downside is that I used a Paralyze Heal during the battle.

After healing, I go on to Route 35 and fight a few trainers, including a weird couple. The boy says "I wanna show my girlfriend my stuff". And the girl says, "My boyfriend is weak, so I can't rely on him." You're kinda right next to each other. '

The girl's Pikachu paralyzes Bernard (woulda been nice to have that Heal back), but I push on to National Park. A random girl there gives me Quick Claw. There's nothing but Hoothoots in the grass, 'CAUSE YOU KNOW, POLIWAG TOTALLY ISN'T COMMON OR ANYTHING. I go the opposite way and find the Pokeathlon Dome. Don't feel like going in there, but I just listen to a guy named Magnus ramble on, and he has a... POLIWRATH. I hate him already.

So, that's the end of Episode 7. Really short, I know, but, hey... those who call the kettle black and there's no I in team. Yay for Ellen DeGeneres references. (How is Yay not a word, gut DeGeneres is?)

Game Time so far: 7 hours, 36 minutes

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 6: The Golden Age in Goldenrod

Day 6 - Wednesday, April 7th 2010

Welcome back to Pokemon HeartGold! I've been kinda lazy with updates, but guess what? You get two episodes today! So, you can be happy about that much, I guess.

So, last time, I loathed the fact that I can't find a Poliwag anywhere, then found Far and Fetch'd in Ilex Forest. I finally got through the "maze" of Ilex Forest, and towards the end, there was that Asian lady who was turned on by the fact that I had an egg a couple episodes ago (by a couple, I mean like two). She says she can't find the way out (the door to the exit is on the very next screen), so Bernard gets rid of her. Good boy! You get a tasty invisible treat that doesn't exist!

I escape into Route 34, and the strangely large amount of grass intrigues me to try and found Poliwag, since it's everywhere according to Bulbapedia and Serebii and all the other Pokemon location sites I can find. Nope, just Drowzees and Abras. And Rattatas. Wouldn't be a Pokemon route without Rattatas.

A random trainer on Route 34 has an Abra and a Mareep. I kill them. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

I come out of Rt. 34 and see Lyra, and her grampapa, who is the leader of the day care... thing. Oh, and her granmama, who is the secondary leader of the day care... thing. Her granmama calls me her "boy...friend", and Lyra completely goes against it. This is one of those times where you gotta wonder what this dialogue would be like if your character was female. Maybe it just stays the same and they expect that when you're a female Pokemon trainer, you're a tranny? I don't know! But, whatever, Lyra gives me her phone number (coulda done that at the beginning of the frikkin' game), then I get her grahamparrents' tellyfone nummers. They're called "Day Care Man" and "Day Care Lady". Hmm... creative?

So, I keep walking after that pointless scene, and a cop comes up to me and battles me with a Level 17 Growlithe. Huh. So, I ju-- wait. A GROWLITHE!? Why do all the trainers in this game have Pokemon that I want, should be able to find, but can never seem to find for whatever reason? Whatever, it finishes Sprout, Howl-Owl, and Dwayne (they're making it very difficult to level them up), and Bernard kills it off. Dwayne, however, reaches Level 11, forgets Rock Polish, and learns Rock Throw (having only one damaging move and it being Attack is really stupid).

Mom calls with another item, so that gives me even more incentive to find a town. I find an Embargo TM, and give it to Howl-Owl to hold. Then, I enter Goldenrod City, which looks... fairly awesome, I must say. Especially at night. I play this game mostly at night anyway, so that made it extra... flavory.

I heal, then find the not a PokeMart. It's a department store, but whatever. You still buy crap there. My mommeh brought me Colbur Berries. Gee, thaaaanks. I actually don't know what they do, but they're all liek spikky and shiz, so they're cool.

I go into the Radio Tower, where Whitney is. If it weren't for BikdipOnABus's SoulSilver walkthrough, I wouldn't know that she would later be a gym leader. But, whatever. I play a stupid quiz that I win completely on luck, then get a radio card that I don't know what it does yet. But somehow me getting it triggers Whitney to TELEPORT to... her gym.

After that, I took a shower and went to bed. And then, I talked to a guy in the Bike Shop, who said he'd give me a bike, then said, "Oh, yeah, it's in Cerulean, and you can ride it there to advertise." Advertise? How does just riding a bike advertise? It's like people go, "Oh, look, there is a boy on a bike. I do not have one. Because a boy is riding a bike, I must purchase a bike."

I look ahead to Route 35 and inadvertently fight a trainer, which grows Howl-Owl to Level 9, and he forgets Foresight (fore shore) and learns Peck. Great, six episodes and nine levels in, and my Flying Type just learned his first Flying move. Great game.

I get some more berries from Mom, fight a Route 35 trainer with 2 Digletts and a Zubat, then head back to Route 34 to fight some Drowzees to (not) level up.

Then, I prepare myself... for Whitney's gym.

That's all for now! Episode 7 will be up today as well!

Game Time so far: I didn't check for game time. Sorry.

Sexual Undertones in Games

(Yes, Episode 6 of HeartGold will be up later today. I've had some trouble getting everything together, and plus I've just been lazy.)

Anyways, this Blog is about sexual undertones in games - specifically older games. There are examples of this in many older games, such as Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. In one of the levels, there's a sign on a wall that says, "No Premarital Gex". Really? The worst part of this is that I actually thought it said "sex" instead of "Gex", because the G looked like an S.

Another example is in Banjo-Tooie. In Jolly Rodger's Lagoon, there's a place called Pawno's emporium. At the end of the game during the quiz show, there is a question of "What does Boggy do when he's home alone?", and one of the multiple choice answers is "He reads pawn magazines".

You can't do that.

Gex games have been overflowing with sexual undertones since the day the series was made. Mostly by his lines, such as, "And this week, another episode of Touched By An Uncle".

Another example would be in Pokemon FireRed, where a girl trainer says, "Are you trying to touch me?" before a battle, or another girl saying, "I think you're coming on to me." Clearly, the dialogue in those games is written for the male character.

So, yeah. There's your glimpse back to the late 90's when you could still have a game be rated E, but still have references to boobs (yeah, I know, I didn't mention boobs in this one, but they did mention them in some game that I can't remember).

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 5: Derrick and the Farfetch'd Bug Types

Day 5 - Friday, April 2nd 2010

Welcome back to more Let's Play Pokemon HeartGold! I got the clip thing on the Pokewalker working, so I walked around a bit, then got tired, then I just did it the cheap way and put it on my sock, and I'm currently wiggling my foot up and down. At least I haven't built a machine to do it for me or anything. Least I'm actually moving.

Anyways, last time we did... absolutely nothing. We hatched an egg, failed at a battle, fought a random bug trainer, backtracked to the beginning of the effing game and then back again, and... that's about it.

So, after changing my clothes after washing the cars out front, I turn on the game and get a Potion from the Pokewalker. I really want to fight Derrick again now that I know what the first two of his three Pokemon are, but I decide if I'm gonna level up any of my Pokemon first, I'mma do it in style. I go into the Bug Gym.

I go across the very annoying two-part spider and lever platform thingus again and fight the second trainer of the gym. He brings out a Weedle and a Kakuna, which both are obliterated by a single Ember from Bernard (once again, I kinda hate how he's getting all the glory here, but meh), and the only interesting thing he has is a Beedrill, which takes SLIGHTLY longer to kill, but s'all good. Bernard grows to Level 20 and wants to learn Flame Wheel.

"Would you like to learn Flame Wheel?" SWEET JESUS YES! I forget Leer (it is a defense-lowering move, and it's been helpful, but I need more than one fire type move, it has the same PP as Ember, and SmokeScreen is still more useful). So, new move acquired, hooray!

I go on to what I think are the Kimono twins, I'm not sure. I just thought any little girl twins in Pokemon games were Kimono twins, but apparently there are THE Kimono twins, so I'm not entirely sure. But, they actually do pose an interesting battle, and a chance to level up Howl-Owl. They send out both a Ledyba and a Spinarak (they're really going all-out with the taunting you with SoulSilver version exclusives thing). Bernard uses Ember on Spinarak and kills it, and Hypnosis decides to not be a douche and miss, and Howl-Owl puts the Ledyba to sleep. Once asleep, Howl-Owl stands idle and Bernard torches it with a Flame Wheel (I really like the animation for that move). And the what-I-think-are-the-Kimono twins are down!

That's all the trainers for the gym, so I decide to go and heal and restore some PP (Howl-Owl lost 10 HP to the Spinarak and Bernard lost 6 HP to the Beedrill), then come back and fight Bugsy, the Bug Gym leader.

He starts out with a Level 17 Scyther, which gives me the wrong idea that this guy is gonna be a challenge. Scyther's quick attack does get in a fair amount of damage on Bernard because of a critical, so once it's down, I decide to level up the rest. First, it's Geodude against a Metapod. I'd fought thousands of Metapods on my trek to Elm last episode, but this one was a decently respectable level. I send out Geodude to try and get a few Tackles, which does like... a half HP. Once Dwayne is down to 5 HP, I switch to Sprout, who gets killed immediately, then Howl-Owl to try and put it to sleep. None of my attempts work, so I send Bernard back out and kill it in one hit. Y'know, guys, I'm trying to help you be all tough, and you're making it very difficult.

The last team member Bugsy sends out is Kakuna, who's kileld by one criticalled Ember. Bernard is raised to Level 21, and Sprout is raised to Level 9 (everyone but Bernard gets 50 exp. points - Bernard gets 230). Bugsy bows to me and gives the U-turn TM that I don't know if I'll ever use, and the Hive Badge! Hooray!

After that, I save the game and take a potty break after healing. Then, I prepare to fight Derrick.

I didn't actually level up my team (aside from the Bug Gym), so I was taking a huge risk going into the fight with little level difference... but now I had Flame Wheel. So, I go to the building and Derrick spots me. He sends out his Gastly which is killed by Flame Wheel. He then sends out that son of a beesting Croconaw. Bernard got 30 HP taken away by a critical, so I sent in Howl-Owl, who gets killed, then Dwayne, who gets killed. The Croconaw during this time only loses about 10 HP. Sprout goes in (originally planned as death fodder) and gets in a few Vine Whips, which slowly muddle him down in HP (mid-yellow zone), because he's stupid and keeps suing Scary Face. I'm lucky that I got in three Vine Whips, 'cause I thought it would only be two because of one usage of Bite, but Sprout was a trooper and held on with 1 HP. I healed Bernard to full health, then sent him back in and torched Croconaw twice with a Flame Wheel.

Bernard still took another decent hit, but last up was Zubat. Zubat goes down in one Flame Wheel (man, Bernard is kicking some buttocks), and Derricks gets all pissy and leaves. Bernard grows to Level 22, and everyone else gets 12 experience points... even Sprout. Why? I don't know. I think Sprout should've leveled up - he was very helpful! But, whatever. That's just the way the cookie crumbles, I guess. Definitely went to heal after that, then went into the building to find it was... Ilex Forest. Interesting.

I talked to a guy that I thought would be a trainer, but wasn't. He was caring for his boss's two Farfetch'ds and they got lost in the dark woods. There was this puzzle where there's different rows of trees and sticks that you step on to make noise (they really sound like someone shaking a cereal box full of glass), and you have to butt rape them to catch them. After about six years, I catch both of them, and the boss comes over and says, "You found Far and Fetch'd!" That'd be a weird line if it were Hoothoot. Then, he gives me... the Cut HM! Very useful indeed! I do remember places where I can backtrack and use Cut to get to some items and maybe new Pokemon, but right now, "backtrack" is the word from hell for me.

So, I give Cut to Sprout (could've given it to Bernard, but he's an egotistical attention whore anyway, so yeahz), and with said Cut move, I manage to find an X Attack and a revive. I go back to the Pokemon Center to heal (not sure why, I didn't take any damage from the 8,000 encounters), then head back to Ilex Forest and save the game.

That's the end of Episode 5! Next time, we might backtrack to other areas and use the new Cut move to find some shiz, and continue our way through Ilex Forest! Funny, last time I played for about an hour and a half and got nothing done. Here I played for about half that time and got a bunch done.

I do have some team members in mind. Some people on Neoseeker are offering to give me some SoulSilver exclusives (Ledyba, Teddiursa, and Vulpix) for free, and I know that Poliwag can be found in Violet City and Cacturne can be found in the Safari Zone. I'll probably be going back to Violet City at some point to look for Poliwag or Poliwhirl, since they're both very helpful.

Game Time so far: 5 hrs, 18 mins
Thanks for reading!

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 4: Win + Fail + Another Fail = Crappy Episode

Day 4: Thursday, April 1st 2010

Welcome back to more Let's Play Pokemon HeartGold! In Episode 3, we found Mareep and Hoppip, then put Hoppip away because... she sucks.

Before I started actually playing, I decided since someone on a website said they'd give me a Teddiursa, I'd mess with my Wi-fi settings. I did that, then for some reason the little cap thing on the back of the Pokewalker came off, so I decided to connect to that and put Hoppip in it. But then, I wanted to put the clip thingus on it so I could actually get some watts, but it... wouldn't. What the crap? I dunno, I'll ask people around if they know what to do in this situation. But, for now, I'm stuck with 3 watts (gotten from slapping the Pokewalker on the couch several times) and a Hoppip, who is in the Refreshing Forest course.

After that, my first order of business was to put Mareep in the PC, so I head to the Pokemon Center in Azalea, heal up just in case, and do that. Then I head into the Slowpoke Well. If you don't remember from last time, Team Rocket is back after breaking up three years ago and is cutting off the tails of Slowpoke (not Slowpokes, because that would make too much sense. Ex.: "I feel bad for all those SLOWPOKE.)... for some reason. I don't really know why they find it necessary. They just say that their master told them, but there's gotta be a reason. I dunno. Maybe they get high off of 'em.

So, anyways, I head into the Slowpoke Well and see that guy whose name escaped me last time. His name is Kurt, and he makes Pokeballs, and he is holding his back because he jumped down the well and hurt it (there's totally not a ladder or anything), so he "can't move" - even though he had to walk a little to get to me, because in RPGs, you can't talk to someone unless you're sitting on their lap.

So, I head into the main part of the well and go up against my first Team Rocket trainer. He jumped down the well too (retards), but apparently his back isn't made of rubber, so he's fine. I like how the Team Rocket trainers have a cool flying "R" effect when you go into battle with them. He sends out Zubat and Ekans, who both die within a single Ember by Bernard. I fight two more trainers, then go back to restore some PP.

While at the Pokemon Center, I was thinking and I kinda hate how Bernard is the only one on my team who can really fight anything. He's a Level 19 (at least by the end of this episode he is) and everyone else is between Level 6 and Level 10. I'd level them up, but that would require effort. Maybe when I get later in the game and meet some wild Pokemon that are higher than Level 12, I can ditch the rest of the team. Of course, by then, Bernard will probably have evolved already.

I go back and fight one of the Team Rocket leaders, Executive Proton. I thought he was gonna be a challenge, and he... kinda was. He first sent out Zubat, and I decided to lead with Dwayne, but the Zubat refused to die. So, I whipped out Bernard again (the little thunder thief), burnt it to a crisp, then did the same to a Koffing (be nice to have one o' thems). Then, Kurt takes me back to his place and gives me a Great Ball, then forces me to give him an Apricorn, and his phone number. He'll call me when the BAWL iz reddie.

I go into a random gym. It's a bug gym, with weird spider platforms that take you to different parts of the gym. I run into and defeat an accidental trainer, then leave. On my way out... HUH? The egg is hatching. It hatches and it's... a Level 1 Togepi. How... exciting? It's male (of freaking course) so for lack of a better name, I name it Toga. (Are togas edible?)

Then, Elm calls me and he somehow knows that the egg hatched. So, he tells me to come ALL THE WAY BACK TO HIS LAB so he can see what Pokemon it is. 'Cause I totally can't just tell him over the phone, no, he has to see it.

But, before that, I wanna see what the next area is. So I go near one of those two-entrance city divider buildings. Before I enter, that Derrick S.O.B. comes over and attacks me. He has a Gastly, which curses itself and Dwayne to death (though Dwayne does learn Rock Polish, which is hella better than Mud Spore), and Bernard is put under a curse. Then, a Croconaw comes out and wipes out the entire team. I automatically heal. I thought about going back and trying a different strategy or leveling up then doing it, but I'm like yeah, F that. I'll just go find Elm.

So, about 45 minutes later, I finally get to his lab. Here is what all that time was spent for:

"Oh, hello, Tim! I'd like to see what Pokemon hatched."
*I take out Togepi, then talk to him again*
"! Oh, my goodness! This is TOGEPI! A legendary Pokemon!" (yes, behold, the legendary Level 1 spiky thing coming out of an egg)
"This is incredible!"
*random 30 second wait*
"Well, goodbye Tim! Don't forget my research!"
*end discussion*

...really? That whole 35 minutes of backtracking was for THAT!?

And now I had to go back to Azalea the more annoying way, because I couldn't skip over the grass. This was one of those times where the game liked to throw 8,000 Pokemon that you don't need at you. So, 1 hour and 375 encounters later... I get back to Azalea.

One win, then two fails. Un-freakin'-believable.

I was going to level up everyone else, or just try that fight again, but I was in too much of a bad mood after that that I just decided to stop there and save. Unless I have a Pokemon that can fly me to other cities, if Elm calls me again later in the game and tells me to come to his lab, I'll just tell him to go screw himself.

Just a quick recap of my team:
Quilava (Bernard) - Level 19
Geodude (Dwayne) - Level 10
Hoothoot (Howl-Owl) - Level 9
Bellsprout (Sprout) - Level 7
Togepi (Toga) - Level 1...

That's the end of Episode 4! Hopefully, next time, we'll level up my team (I'd like to get Bernard to Level 20, and everyone else up to Level 13) and fight Derrick, then hopefully make some actual progress in the game.

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 3: Meet the Fockers... I Mean Falkner

Day 3 - Sunday, March 28th 2010

Welcome back to Let's Play Pokemon HeartGold! In the last episode, we captured Bellsprout and continued on to Violet City, and entered the Sprout Tower. I WOULD be using the Pokewalker in this one, but we don't have a small enough screwdriver to unscrew the fricking thing.

I was up at the top of the Sprout Tower. Three trainers lead the way to... whatever the boss was. They each had Bellsprouts again, and it rose by one how many they had with each step. Once the three trainers were defeated, I like slipped through a crack in the wall or something and there was that emo Derrick kid! Behind him was the elder of the Sprout Tower.

The elder started giving me and him a lecture about how Pokemon aren't weapons to be used for war-related purposes. The emo kid totally disregards everything he says, then says "I just care about Pokemon who win!!!" then uses a random escape rope to climb out.

I decide to fight the elder, just Embering his two Bellsprouts, then switching to Howl-Owl for a mirror match (kind of out-of-place considering his loyal subjects don't have any flying types). The trainer is defeated, and he gives me the Flash TM. I wanted to give it to Sprout, since all he has is Vine Whip, but I did it wrong because I'm amazing, so we're still stuck with just one move.
But, wait! Something is happening!

Bernard reaches Level 14 during the fight, and a cut-scene ensues. Bernard evolves into Quilava! We now have our first in-game evolution! So, after that, I use the escape rope to make my way out of the Sprout Tower, go to heal, then go into the what-looks-like-a-second-Pokemon-Center building, which is really Falkner's place. I don't bother talking to the guy who looks like Ozzie Osbourne (SHARON!!!), so I go onto a circular platform, and it goes up onto a pointlessly zigzaggy pathway. A whole two trainers guard Falkner.

But, wait. I only have three team members and two of them suck. So, I go through the Ruins of Alph over to Route 32 to find a fourth team member. While on Route 32, I finally find some grass. After about fourteen Rattatas, I finally stumble upon something new - a Level 6 Hoppip. Being the Pokemon genius that I am, I don't know much about Hoppip, so I just catch it anyway and it's my first female, so I name it Hillary (for once I actually had a boy name). It has Slash and something else, and neither are very useful. What a great catch! It's also Rash and often dozes off. I am an expert. So, I arrive back in Violet City and go back to Falkner's place.

After healing up to replenish some PP, I fight his first trainer. He has a Level 9 Spearow and a Level 6 Pidgey, both of which die within a hit from Ember. His second trainer? Nothing special either. Two Level 7 Pidgeys, both down in one hit from Ember. So, I go back to replenish some more PP, then go back to fight Falkner. I honestly thought I'd need 4 Pokemon to fight him?

He has a Pidgey and a Pidgeotto, and I didn't want to just linger on Ember forever, so I burn it with Ember until its left with less than half its HP, then switch to Howl-Owl to get in a few tackles. It has 1 HP, so I switch to Sprout and screw it over with a vine whip. Not my fault the freaking thing kept being stupid and using Sand attack. The Pidgeotto wasn't very hard to beat, either. I tried to give Hoppip a chance with Slash or Synthesis, but it just didn't want to do anything. I honsetly don't know what it will do. It hasn't done anything to any Pokemon. So I just kill it with an Ember than a last ditch effort Tackle with Bernard, and the Falkner is down.

Such a difficult fight! For a reward, I get the Roost TM (totally gonna use that), and the Zephyr Badge.

So, Falkner's dead to me now, so I leave his place, and Elm calls me. Oh, my God, that totally wasn't planned! HAAWHH! He tells me to pick up that myestewious egg from the nearest PokeMart, so I do. When I come out after a black-haired guy's speech about how he wiped his butt, an Asian lady is randomly sexually attracted to me now that I have an Egg. She tells me to take good care of "her" Egg. What the fudge? It's not your egg, you butthole.

Anyways, I head over to Route 32 and find a Miracle Seed ('twill come in handy with Sprout), and a bunch of Pokemon I don't want, such as Rattata. Because no place is complete without Rattata. However, I do come across... a Level 6 Mareep. Huh. Interesting. I decide to catch it, and I name it Mikey. It may be able to replace Hillary, since she's not doing jack-crap. So, I find a Pokemon Center and put Hillary in the PC. I find a Bullet Seed TM, and a trainer who has a male Nidoran, after he says he found some cool Pokemon in the grass... that's his only one. After I defeat him, I'm like, okay, I'm lookin' in the grass if there's a Nidoran here! There's not. Just Bellsprouts, Mareeps, and Rattatas. Maybe they only come out at night, so I might check.

Unable to find anything else interesting, I head into Union Cave, fight a Vulpix trainer (it's mean how they let a trainer have a SoulSilver exclusive, and they're probably gonna do that to me with Teddiursa as well), and get out into Azalea Town, the place Falkner recommended to go to.

Wait... am I forgetting something? Yes, I am! I caught a Level 6 Geodude and named him Dwayne, so he'll probably be replacing Mareep. In the cave, I also found a Sandshrew and an Onix. I'll come back for those later. Once I have my full party chosen, I'll start working on the Pokedex. Hopefully Geodude will be a bit more cooperative than my last two failures of team members.

There's some peoples from Team Rocket there, fighting some old men, but I don't care about that right now. All I care about is that there's a Pokemon Center and I need to heal.

So, I heal, then talk to a guy named... I think it was Ash or something? No, wait, it wasn't Ash - he's from the anime show. I dunno his name, I didn't care. Well, Team Rocket is apparently stealing all the Slowpokes in town and pushing 'em into a well and cutting off their tails for food (bit gruesome for an E-rated game, don'tcha think, Nintendo?), and he's all pissed about it, so he goes into the well to find them.

I remembered awhile back I got a call from my mom saying she had something that she bought with my money at the Pokemart, so I go there and pick up a Super Potion. Thanks, mom! While there, I also grab a few Pokeballs, then head over to the other side of Azalea.

There I look down into the mysterious Slowpoke Well...

That's the end of Episode 3! Next time, we'll be leveling up Geodude, Bellsprout, and Hoothoot, putting Mareep in the PC with Hoppip, and entering the Slowpoke Well to see what all this Team Rocket crap is about. And hopefully hatch this God-frosaken egg.

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 2: A Sprout of Training

Day 2 - Saturday, March 27th 2010

Welcome back to Let's Play Pokemon HeartGold! In the last episode, we started off the game with our Cyndaquil (named Bernard), and caught a Hoothoot named Howl-Owl.

Also, crap. I looked at the version exclusives list again of HG/SS and found that HeartGold doesn't have Teddiursa - and I wanted to use one on my final team. Luckily, it has Porygon2, Growlithe, and a bunch of other stuff.

It was 11:30 at night on the night I posted Episode 1. I decided I would train Howl-Owl off-(not a)screen. I just leveled him up to Level 4, and get my butt handed to me by Pidgey. Bernard gets to Level 8, so I can be happy about that much. I fought some trainers on Routes 46 and 31, including some bug catchers. While cycling through the grass blades, I came across something I hadn't yet encountered - a Level 3 Bellsprout.

I had Bernard just sort of tackle it down to 4 HP, then caught it within one Pokeball! Team member acquired. I was planning on using a Grass type, more along the lines of Cacturne or Sunflora, but Bellsprout's good too. It was male, so I couldn't name it Bella (so far, females seem to run away from me), so I just went the cheap way and named it Sprout. I leveled it up to Level 6, but it still only had one move, and that was Vine Whip. It's not very effective, but luckily while training Sprout, the game kept being nice and giving me Sentrets.

After getting a few Apricorns, I saved the game and went to bed to re-fuel my IMAGINATION tanks. That name took so much thought.

Next morning (today), I woke up and got Howl-Owl to Level 6, and he learned Hypnosis! It worked for about 4 PP, then started missing every time. Huzzah. Oh, well. I go to the farther side of Route 31 and fight Bug Catcher Wade, who starts with two Level 2 Caterpies, then a Level 3 Weedle, then another Caterpie. I kill one with Hypnosis, then just vine whip the rest to death. Bernard came in for a Tackle and was poisoned by the Weedle, but luckily, on my way through the grass trying to find another Pokemon Center to heal, it said the poison wore off, and Bernard was left with a whopping 1 HP left!

Once I get through the grass that I can't walk two seconds in without encountering a Metapod (think I might come back for one later), I reach one of those "front door and back door and there are two people in it" buildings. Inside, Lyra and her stupid Marill find me, and she gives me the Vs. Recorder, then leaves. Oh, yeah, and during that trainer fight, Bernard got to Level 9.

So, I head out the other door of the building and I'm in... Violet City? I wasn't expecting to be here. I thought this would be much later in the game. But, I found what I was looking for there - a Pokemon Center. I heal up, and go into a random cabin. A guy in there asks if I want to trade Bellsprout for his Onix. While I'm sure an Onix will come in handy, I'll probably find one with the Pokewalker anyway, once I get that stuff set up. I may come back later if I ever need one.

I look for some grass in the area to see if I can acquire a fourth team member (might be nice to get a Poison type), but I do find a large building that looks like the fighting dojo from FireRed. Except, there are no Hitmonchops in this one. There's just old men. I realized I had entered the Sprout Tower. Again, wasn't expecting that to happen.

I'm stopped by a trainer there, and he has nothing but Level 3 Bellsprouts. I could've gone for a mirror match, but Bernard will be evolving at Level 14, so I figured to just keep him around. Plus, he looks all funky and shiz. Bernard, after defeating the trainer, grows to Level 10, then learns Ember. Sweet Jesus, yes! Ember will be VERY helpful.

So, I keep going through the Sprout Tower and fight a couple more oldies, find a Potion, a Paralyz Heal, an Antidote, and an X Accuracy, Bernard reaches Level 11, and I find out that all the trainers have Level 3 Bellsprouts, and that's it. And they all die to Ember in one hit, so I was able to blast through them all pretty quickly. Which means it should only be a matter of time until Ember starts missing like crazy, like with Hypnosis (I cannot wait until I find another sleep move).

I get to the top of the Sprout Tower after being randomly encountered by two Rattatas, and see a line of old men trainers going up a pathway to what I am assuming is the boss, whose name escapes me. I didn't wanna deal with that yet, and my DS's power was going dangerously low, so I figured now would be a good time to leave off. I went back to the Pokemon Center to restore my HP and PP, then saved the game.

That's the end of Episode 2! Stay tuned for the next episode, where we'll be doing some more stuff in Violet City, and hopefully beating the boss and evolving Bernard! See you then for that!

Let's Play Pokémon HeartGold, Episode 1: The Generic-ness Begins!

Day 1 - Friday, March 26th 2010
WARNING: LOTS OF MISSPELLINGS AND JUNK IN THIS ONE THAT IWAS TOO LAZY TO FIX!

And so begins my adventure! It begins at the wonderful location of Target, where I buy the game on sale for $40 after waiting for twenty minutes for my mom to stop looking at shirts and give me my effing gift cards (not sure why I couldn't just hold 'em, but whatevers). During this time, we engage in a not-colorful and playful argument about whether SoulSilver or HeartGold is better. He says SS is, but I just got this one because the version exclusives are better, though I am upset that I'm giving up Meowth and Persian.

So, anyways, we get home from Target (and Kohl's), and I open up the game... except I don't. I wait for three hours because I'm dumb like that. So, at around eight 'o' clock, I start slashing at the thick government plastic that covers the game (funny how with video games it's government plastic and with lightbulbs it's thin cardboard. I guess because they're more urgent?), then read the mile-long Pokewalker instruction manual, all of which I totally disregard, since I won't be using it in my travels for today anyways.

So, anyways, I start up my DS and click on HeartGold, and the year-long intro begins. There's some weird bell tolls during the seven hundred copyright notices, then we watch some people battle it out with Gengars and Suicunes. Afterwards, the title screen FINALLY appears, and guess how you start the game? You touch Ho-oh with your stylus. Yeah, whatever sexual thought you had in your head, you're right.

So... after about fifteen minutes, the game starts. And we get to talk to... not Oak. We get to talk to Professor Elm instead. Hurrayz. So, Elm has a Marill (he's such an avid Pokemon collector, haawwh!). So, he wants to see us, and so I talk to my mommeh, and get my bag and my trainer card. My ID number is 63148. Not sure if this matters or not yet, but I'm soon we'll find out soon enough anyhow. I get an e-mail from my psycho friend Lyra (who ALSO has a Marill and was apparently playing hide and seek with it... ew), who just says she loves Pokemon or whatever. Then, I leave and I go over to Prof. Elm's place (isn't it ironic how his lab is RIGHT near my house?), and he gets an e-mail from Mr. Pokemon. He humps the computer, then says that he has some beautiful discovery, and that he can be found on Route 30 above Cherrygrove City.

He says I should bring a Pokemon with me, so I go over to the Pokemon refridgerator or whatever the crap it is, and I have to pick between a Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita. I pick Cyndaquil, and it's a male, so I name it Bernard, because I always thought Cyndaquil was very much related to St. Bernard. It was either that or Judas. It's a level 5 and has tackle and leer - pretty standard stuff. It's Quirky and "somewhat of a clown". Good enough. So, I actually start my adventure. An afro guy stops me in front of the door and gives me potions. And I get raped by a Marill on my way out. Yay.

I sign my trainer card with my full name (Tim Toohey), and I go over to some chick, thinking she'll be of some importance. Nope, she just says, "I like your bag!" Avoiding her stupidity and the fact that Elm said "People catch Pokemon in Pokeballs these days" ("these days"? like, since the 90's?), I go over to my mommy, and I show her my "rare" Cyndaquil, and she gives me my Pokegear, which for right now only contains a tellyfone. "It's so wasy to make a phone call these days!" Mom says. Where have these people been the last two generations? So, I get out of mah hauz, and Elm comes out and gives me his tellyfone number, so he can call me when danger threats (or when he feels like hearing my voice).

On my way to Cherrygrove City, I bump into my first wild Pokemon encounter - a Level 3 Sentret. I use my generic Tackle once, then it criticals, and it faints. Hooray for stupid victory. I pass a random guy and think he'll most likely just give me a potion or something, but I don't wanna take the risk that he's a randomly-placed early game trainer, I ignore him. My second encounter is a Level 3 Pidgey. Even with Leer decreasing its accuracy, its Tackles do a buttload of damage. I'm left with 6 of my 18 HP, and the Pidgey faints. Though very damaged, Bernard reaches Level 6, and learns smokescreen - a defense-dropping move. After getting through the enormous patch of grass with only 6 HP, I realize there's a thingus to the right. It's... another effing potion! Hooray! Totally don't already have 5 of those or anything.

I go through a random place where people tell me nothing to see Route 46, but I'm easily intimidated by the oddly large amount of grass, so I go back and head to Cherrygrove. Once there, I'm stopped my a pedophi-- I mean, old man. Apparently, he can tell I'm a rookie trainer? So, he realizes I don't have the Running Shoes yet, so he says he will walk "as slow as possible", meaning he runs really fast, then stops for one second when the camera edge is too close to his gorgeous wrinkly old man face.

Apparently, his name is Guide Gent (who the poop names their kid Gent?), and he gives me a tour of Cherrygrove - the Pokemart, the Pokemon Center, his house, all that good stuff. He explains fishing and junk, then gives me his "still warm" running shoes. Nah, just kidding, they're brand-new... sort of. So, yayz, now I can run.He also gives me the Town Map, then I head up to Route 30, just north of Cherrygrove. I run through some grass and encounter a Caterpie and a Metapod, both of which I ignore, find another potion, and an antedote, then when I go near a house, some dude stops me and gives me the Apricorn Box, where I can store so many apricorns. That'll be useful in due time.

After sailing my way through the millions of Pidgeys and Metapods, I finally reach Mr. frigging Pokemon. Professor Oak is there, and he gives me the Mystery Egg! Owsum! Oak walks VERY SLOWLY around the table and gives me the Pokedex, and his tellyfone number. As I leave, Mr. Pokemon says to bring the Egg to Elm, who calls, gasps, then... dies? On my way out of Cherrygrove, I encounter an emo red-headed dude, who flips me off, then battles me with his Level 5 Totodile. We have a Leer/Tackle shenanigan fest, and I whoop his emo butt within a minute and he pushes me away and goes home to cut himself over his picture of Robert Pattinson. Apparently, I had his trainer card... somehow, so I SAW HIS NAME, HAAAWWWH!, and also, Bernard reaches Level 7 during the fight. I go to Elm's lab, and a cop is there, along with Lyra, and I tell him that the culprit of a missing Pokemon case is that red-headed dude, who I name Derrick (not sure why, just fits his picture). When the police officer and Lyra leave, I give the Mystery Egg to Elm, and he craps his pants after seeing it. He takes and humps it into his refridgerator, then he tells me to leave after I show him my high-tech encyclopedia.

I go outside, and Lyra stops me, and tells me about balls. Pokeballs, you pervert. She gives me an example by using her Marill (because EVERYONE has a Marill in this game), and she fights a Level 2 Rattata. She catches it with one of her 20 friggin' Pokeballs, and gives me 5 of 'em. Cheapskate.

So, I decide to put my bawlz to good use, so I find a Hoothoot in the grass. It's a Level 3, and seems to have a good move... thing, so I catch it and name it Howl-Owl (if it were a female, I would've named it Hedwig), because it sounds funny. It is Serious with "good endurance", which seem to be good qualities if he's gonna be helpful. It has tackle, growl, and foresight. Foresight has definitely been showing its usefulness to me with some of the Pokemon I fought in the grass, so I dunno how it's gonna pan out.

I figured at that point, I made a pretty decent amount of progress, so I decided to stop playing there and save my game.

That's the end of Episode 1! See ya next time for training Hoothoot, and maybe catching some other stuff!

In Which I Further Explain the Pokemon Journal

I mentioned in yesterday's entry that I would be making a sort of blog journal of my first 30 days of playing one of the two new Pokemon games. I think I'm going with HeartGold, but I'm very tempted to get SoulSilver, because my favorite Let's Player is doing something similar (except he's actually doing the whole game), so I might be able to use his for reference of what's to come. While I'm sure there's already seventeen LPs of HeartGold and SoulSilver up on YouTube, I'm still gonna let other people decipher it for me.

I've asked people on Twitter and everything, and no one at school has played Pokemon in sixty-two and a half years, so I've gotten very little (no) responses. So, I'm still not sure.

Either way, I would like to start the journal blog thing on Saturday, since I am most likely getting these games tomorrow. I'll be posting the day AFTER I play, so even if Blogger says it's been posted on April 3rd, I'll put "Day something - April 2nd".

iN oThEr NeWs... I'd like to update here more often, even though the majority of the updates will be for the Pokemon games. There's a good chance that'll be dropped, since I'm an incomplete douche, but whatever. I do have something planned that I'd like to start in May, but I'm not sure if I'll be doing.

Until next time, see ya later!

Would You Like to Nickname Your Pokemon?

Why, yes, I would. Thank you very much.

I like games where you get to name stuff. That's one of the only reasons I can stand RPGs slightly more than the average non-Chrono Trigger player. One of the most famous RPGs of all-time is Pokemon. In fact, Pokemon is so popular, it's not underlined in red when I type this (but Chrono is).

The thing I think most people overlook about Pokemon games is the ability to nickname your Pokemon! I don't know about you, but that's my favorite part! Naming Pokemon is so much. It's a bit of relief in a game that's not all about creativity. In fact, I think I'll show some examples of Pokemon names I've used / want to use...

Sunflora - Molly, Daisy, or Violet
Magcargo - Gary
Squirtle - Fludd
Teddiursa - Winnie
Growlithe - Tigger
Shuppett - Peeves
Geodude - Dwayne
Politoad - HypnoToad
Venomoth - Luna
Meowth - Turbulence
Mr. Mime - Mimien, Peach
Raikou - Meowmix
Wooper - Upaaa

Gary is because Magcargo evolves from Slugma, which is a snail, and SpongeBob's pet snail is named Gary.
The ones for Sunflora are obvious, because they're flower-related names.
Fludd is what I named my Squirtle in Pokemon Diamond, the first Pokemon game I've ever played. The name just made sense to me.
Teddiursa is a teddy bear, and so is Winnie the Pooh, so therefore, Winnie.
Growlithe is Tigger. That's it.

All the other ones have stories behind them.

I'm not a big Pokemon fan, but I am a Pokemon fan. So much, I'd like to buy either HeartGold or SoulSilver this Friday. For those who are skeptics or just know these things, which one should I get? Like, which one is better?

Either way, on both my website (www.timothytoohey.webs.com) and here, I'd like to post a 30-day Blog of my HeartGold and/or SoulSilver adventures, whichever one I get! Just the first 30 days. I think it'd be fun and interesting to see.

So, thanks for reading this Blog, and if you like, send me some funny Pokemon names. I may use them in my 30-day Blog!

In Which Information About the Video Quiz Is Revealed

Back in January, I talked about the Super Mario Sunshine video quiz, a thing I'm making similar to the Mario 64 video quiz on GameFAQs, except with... Mario Sunshine, of course. Well, I've made some task ideas. Actually, a lot of them. But I shan't reveal any.

There are 10 levels to the quiz - Biancoo Hills, Ricco Harbor, Gelato Beach, Pinna Park, Sirena Beach, Noki Bay, Pianta Village, Delfino Airstrip, Delfino Plaza, and Corona Mountain - in that order.

First, let me explain the intricacies of the quiz. Bianco Hills has 6 tasks, Ricco Harbor has 10, Gelato Beach has 12, Pinna Park has 9, Sirena Beach has 15, Noki Bay has 13, Pianta Village has 7, Delfino Airstrip has 4, Delfino Plaza has 20, and Corona Mountain has the Finals - 3 tasks, worth 1,000 points each.

The Finals are deviously challenging, and some other tasks require you to do some pretty insane stuff. For instance, in Pinna Park, you must do the Red Coins of the Pirate Ship task - but you can't get hurt by anything except for falls. Another is in Noki Bay where you must get all the coins in the Red Coin Fish in less than two break-aparts.

There are a few that are pretty easy. Such as collect five coins in Mission 1 of Pianta Village in less than 15 seconds. Or in Delfino Plaza where you must simply squirt all the birds (not including the gold bird on the island).

So, it should be interesting. I wanna start getting word out around April, so I hope I can work some stuff out soon.

Until then, see ya next time for another Gaming Blog!

In Which I Return

Okay, I've been gone for awhile, and for no particular reason, too, and I kinda feel bad about it. Though, in the few weeks I have been gone, I will announce that I do have some crap I'd like to talk about, and I wanna try and update at least every other day for the next week or two.

So, like with my website, updates here might be a bit sporatic, but I will try and do my best to post interesting things. Until then, thanks!

Super Mario Sunshine Video Quiz

You know how I've been itching to get a YouTube account? Well, if I ever do, I'm gonna be talking with BikdipOnABus, and some other YouTube-ers about a little thing I've been thinking about - a Super Mario Sunshine video quiz.

For those who don't know where the idea came from, there was a Super Mario 64 video quiz that Bikdip got in second place for. I'll be talking with him, Myles (the first place winner), Quate32 (one of the contestants), and any other people who'd like to help to make it.

Just like with the Mario 64 video quiz, it'd be done on GameFAQs. I have to be 13 to be a member on GameFAQs, so it'll have to be sometime in March. Also, I am willing to make a website for it, so we can show all the entries.

There are two things you can do for this quiz:

1. Send in ideas for tasks.

2. If you know Bikdip on YouTube, PM him about it, and tell him to visit this website.

Preferably the second one, considering I have many task ideas already figured out.

If you'd like to help with the quiz and have a YouTube account, go to www.youtube.com/bikdiponabus and send him a Private Message, giving him a link to this Blog, and tell him about it. Anyone who'd like to help can!

Thanks for your support!

Stupid Gamers on Neoseeker

This Blog is about stupid people on a website I belong to called Neoseeker. Neoseeker is a site where people can talk about video games. Help threads are usually not welcome, yet there are still thousands of them. Of course, when I make a help thread, everyone craps their pants over it, but when there are just a few hundred by other people, it doesn't matter at all.

Anyways, for the most part, the people on Neoseeker aren't that bad. There are two classes of "the bad kind" of Neoseeker...ers. One of them I don't really care about, yet they still get on my nerves.
The Overreacters. These ones I don't particularly have a problem with. These are the people who regard anything that involves anger as flaming. Making a thread like, "I Hate How This Happens", as an example. They just freaking explode and go ballistic about it and are like, "If you don't like something in a game, then don't waste your time playing it, and don't ruin our threads about how you hate it. We just wanna have nice conversations!", while like two threads under that, they started a thread about something even worse. However, my main problem is with...
The people that apparently don't know how to use search engines. These guys are so stupid I can't even think of a short name for them to describe them! Mostly on SpongeBob games, people always ask how to do stuff, and that they've "tried everything", but still can't figure something out. I always say to them that they can just search for a walkthrough. Now I just get mad and go "Look for a freaking walkthrough, people!!!", and then the thread is closed due to "over-flaming" (see top). One person even said for Battle for Bikini Bottom that, and I quote, "a walkthrough for this game is one of the most sought-after things in the world." Unquote.

*long pause* Uh, no! The Hope Diamond is one of most sought-after things in the world, dummy. I have a walkthrough for that game right on my freaking website!

Anyways, let me leave you with this statement - If you go on Neoseeker... don't be dumb.

*says nothing else*
